Terms of Service

Last updated 31 July 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Chakap. By creating an account or joining an event, you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Your account

You need an account to create events, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, give us an address you actually read, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Chakap.

2. Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of every photo, video, and caption you upload. By uploading to an event you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that content for the purpose of running the service — resizing an image, generating a thumbnail, showing it to other members of that event, and including it in a host’s backup. That licence exists so the product can function and for no other purpose. It ends when you delete the content.

Only upload content you have the right to upload, and be considerate about photographing people who have not agreed to it.

3. Events and hosts

The host of an event controls its settings, its guest list, and whether it is private or public. Hosts can approve, hide, or remove content in their event, and can download it in bulk. Event media is retained for the period attached to the event’s package and is then deleted automatically.

4. Content and conduct: no tolerance

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Chakap. You agree not to upload, post, or transmit any content that is unlawful, harassing, threatening, hateful, defamatory, sexually explicit, exploitative of minors, violent, or otherwise objectionable, and not to harass, impersonate, stalk, or abuse any other user.

You can act on this directly:

  • Report content. Every photo and post has a report action. Reported content is flagged for review immediately.
  • Block users. You can block any user. Blocking hides their content from you everywhere in the app and stops them interacting with you.
  • Hosts moderate their own events. A host can remove any content in an event and remove any guest from it.

We review every report and act within 24 hours, removing objectionable content and ejecting users who post it. Accounts responsible for abusive content or behaviour are suspended or terminated, and we cooperate with law enforcement where the law requires it. Our decision on what is objectionable is final.

To report something outside the app, or to appeal a decision, write to support@chakap.com.

5. Paid packages

Events may be created on a free or paid package. Paid packages unlock capacity such as additional storage, longer retention, or a larger guest list, and are described at the point of purchase. On iOS, purchases are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple’s refund policy; elsewhere they are handled by our payment provider. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

6. Things you must not do

  • Access events you were not invited to, or attempt to guess or enumerate event codes.
  • Probe, scan, or overload the service, or try to bypass its access controls or rate limits.
  • Scrape or bulk-download content you do not own.
  • Upload malware, or use the service to distribute spam.
  • Resell or sublicense the service.

7. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, and we will do so without notice where the breach is serious — in particular anything under section 4.

8. Availability and liability

Chakap is provided as-is. We work to keep it running and to keep your media safe, but we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable. Hosts can download a full backup of an event at any time before its retention period ends.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be notified in the app before they take effect, and the date above will change. Continuing to use Chakap after that means you accept the new terms.
